What the per-km rate actually covers
The per-kilometre rate covers the vehicle, the fuel and the driver's time. It does not cover toll plazas, interstate permits, parking charges at the destination, or the driver's night halt and food allowance on multi-day trips. Any operator quoting an all-inclusive number below the market rate is usually planning to add these at the end, so it is worth asking the question before you book rather than after. Round trips are billed on the total distance travelled, including the return leg, with a minimum daily running — typically 250 to 300 km per day on outstation bookings.
